About Light a Little Star

Light a Little Star brings the urgency of the March of Dimes mission of improving the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality into every community across the country. The event provides an opportunity for individuals and families to bring hope to the future by supporting the March of Dimes. It honors the lives of those babies who have been lost to prematurity or a birth defect while it celebrates those babies who have survived and offers hope for those who will be born in the future.

Light a Little Star is usually a three-hour event filled with games, food and entertainment. Participants raise money as individuals or as a team to earn stars that will light the sky at this special celebration. Each team will create a star-studded display to be paraded when the lights go down during the “Stars in Motion Ceremony” held during the event.

Light a Little Star was inspired by those directly touched by the March of Dimes: the mothers, fathers, grandparents and friends of babies born prematurely or with special needs. Light a Little Star is a way of rallying the community around the day we all dream of, the day when every baby is born healthy. It is a great day of joy, inspiration and love.
